Chronicle of the Guilty Verdicts for Propaganda of Xenophobia in Russia. 2007
We publish a list of the guilty verdicts for the non-violent hate crimes. In total, we know about 27 verdicts brought in 21 regions of Russia (we don't include the verdicts which we consider to be unlawful). In total, in 2007, there were 37 people convicted. January 20, Veliky Novgorod- verdict against Pavel Ivanov, the chief editor of the "Russkoye Veche" newspaper.
February, Kislovodsk - verdict against a 49 year-old resident of Lunacharsky, a suburb of Kislovodsk, for a her numerous public xenophobic statements.
April 5, Chelyabinsk - verdict against Vladimir Sutormin, the co-chairman of the Chelyabinsk unit of the rightwing radical organization "National-Sovran Way of Russia" ("Natsionalno-derzhavny put' Rusi", or NDPR).
April 6, Syktyvkar - verdict for distribution of xenophobic leaflets.
April 16, Kurgan - verdict against Yaroslav Kozlov, the creator of the "Kurgan Skinheads" ("Kurganskie Britogolovye") website.
April 27, Novosibirsk - verdict against Shamil Akhmedov, a soldier from Dagestan, for incitement of ethnic and religious hatred, bullying, robbery and a wrongful communication about a terrorist attack.
May 17, Kaliningrad - verdict against Alexey Safin, the chieaf of the local unit of the Movement Against Illegal Immigration (DPNI).
May, Pechora (Komi Republic) - verdict for the xenophobic graffiti.
May 23, Kirov- verdict against Valery Goncharov, the leader of the local unit of the Conceptual Party "Unity" ("Yedinenie").
May, Uljanovsk - verdict for the attack on the municipal Jewish cultural center.
May, Cherepovets - verdict for the printing and distribution of nationalistic leaflets.
June, Novosibirsk - verdict against Igor Kolodezenko, the leader of the Novosibirsk unit of NDPR and the editor in chief and publisher of a ultra-rightwing newspaper "Rodnaya Sibir".
June 22, Yekaterinburg - verdict against Sergey Kotov, the leader of the local unit of the "People's National Party" ("Narodnaya Natsionalnaya Partiya", NNP).
June 20, Moscow - verdict against Alexander Aratov, the former editor in chief of the "Russkaya Pravda" newspaper.
July 16, Novosibirsk - verdict against Taras Zelenyak, for xenophobic statements on a web forum.
July 18 Samara- verdict for the distribution of xenophobic leaflets.
August 13, Vladimir region - verdict for xenophobic graffiti.
August 15, Ryazan - verdict against Oleg Panfilov and Boris Parshin, the leaders of the regional unit of "Russian National Unity" ("Russkoye Natsionalnoye Edinstvo, or RNE").
August 17, Krasnodar- verdict for xenophobic statements on a web forum.
September 20, Blagoveshchensk - verdict against Igor Terekhov, the chief of the Amur unit of the "Union of Russian People" ("Soyuz Russkogo Naroda", SRN).
October 1, Syktyvkar - verdict against Yurij Yekishev, the leader of the "Union of the National Revival" ("Soyuz Natsionalnogo Vozrozhdenia", SNV).
November, Barnaul - verdict for the distribution of xenophobic leaflets.
November 21, Maikop - verdict for the posting on the Internet a neo-nazi video with a scene of murder.
November, Obninsk (Kaluga region) - verdict for the distribution of video with racist attacks.
December, Neryungri (Yakutia) - verdict for the distribution of nationalistic leaflets.
November, Novorossijsk (Krasnodar region) - verdict against Sergey Putintsev, an ultra-rightwing publisher.
November, Sochi (Krasnodar region) - verdict against Nadezhda Donskaya, the publisher and the editor of the "Russky Vestnik Kubani" newspaper.
