Thousands turn up for Boris Nemtsov memorial rally in Moscow
Seven thousand people are taking part in the rally in memory of oppositionist and former deputy prime minister Boris Nemtsov in Moscow, according to the police. They later updated the figure to 16 thousand people.
Meduza's correspondent at the scene places the count at roughly 25 thousand.
Some estimates suggest as many as 30 to 50 thousand people in Moscow alone, with thousands more attending similar events in cities across Russia.
Boris Nemtsov was shot and killed in Moscow just before midnight on Friday, February 27. His colleagues are certain that it was a political assassination. Police have yet to make any arrests.
The procession in Moscow is headed from Kitay-Gorod in the city's center to the bridge just minutes from the Kremlin where Nemtsov was killed.
