Mixed-martial-arts championship match ends in mass brawl

The main event at Sunday’s PROFC mixed-martial-arts competition in Rostov was a championship rematch between reigning middleweight champion Shamil Abdulkhalikov from Dagestan and Mikhail Kolobegov, a Rostov native. The fight was interrupted in the fourth round, when Kolobegov delivered a knockout blow to his opponent, sending Abdulkhalikov’s fans into the ring, to brawl with Kolobegov’s trainers.
PROFC Vice President Vladimir Shemarov later annulled the knockout, citing “errors by the referee,” rescheduling the fight for the next tournament. The rest of Sunday evening’s fights ended without incident.
