Someone in Moscow was keeping 2 leopard cubs in their apartment, until they escaped

Two leopard cubs escaped from an apartment in Moscow earlier today, before police and Parks Department officials later captured the animals.

According to eyewitnesses, the two leopards were seen leaping from an apartment window in the early afternoon. Officials were able to catch one of the animals fairly easily, but the second cat reacted nervously and was only captured with some difficulty. Both leopards are now in state custody, awaiting a review by animal-control authorities.

According to a report by the television network Ren-TV, several migrant workers actually captured one of the leopards before police ever arrived on the scene. Two women appeared shortly thereafter, saying they’d been tasked by the cats’ owner with watching after the animals.
