Moscow officials reportedly planning to censor risqué billboards along Eid al-Fitr worship routes
For the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, Moscow officials are reportedly planning to remove or cover up billboard advertisements throughout the city that feature images of half-naked bodies. According to the website M24.ru, the mayor’s office says city officials are responding to complaints by religious groups that the advertisements are offensive to holiday worshippers.
Eid al-Fitr festivities are scheduled to take place in and around the city at 40 different public squares. According to local officials, more than 80 percent of the people expected to celebrate the holiday in Moscow do not live in city.
