Moscow invites its homeless population to outdoor summer cinema
Moscow officials are preparing a new attraction designed specifically for the city’s homeless population: a summer movie theater.
The outdoor cinema will be a one-night affair, taking place on July 19. In additional to workers from the city’s Department of Social Welfare, volunteers from two social movements, Friends on the Street and Social Patrol, will help stage the event.
In addition to enjoying some film entertainment, homeless visitors will receive hot meals and tea. Social Patrol has also promised to distribute bottles of drinking water.
Homeless people are invited to seek counseling at the movie event, speaking either with city workers or volunteers.
