Russia invested 9.7 billion dollars in US Treasury bonds in July
In July, the Russian government increased its investments in US Treasury bonds by $9.7 billion, bringing its total dollar holdings to $81.7 billion. Russia now ranks 16th on the list of largest lenders to the United States.
The leaders of this list are China, at roughly $1.24 trillion, and Japan, at $1.19 trillion. Altogether, foreign states hold about $6.07 trillion in US Treasury bonds. This figure dropped by $100 billion in July.
In June 2015, Russia expanded its investments in dollars by $1.4 billion. In April 2014, Russia's dollar holdings were $116.4 billion.
