Former deputy chief of Russia's state censor becomes top-manager at pro-Kremlin news company

The former deputy head of Russia's state censor, Maxim Ksenzov, is the new deputy general director of National Media Group, according to the news agency ComNews.

National Media Group owns shares in Channel One Russia, as well as controlling stakes in REN TV and Channel Five. These networks are considered to be part of the pro-Kremlin media.

Mr. Ksenzov has also joined the Cable TV Association Board of Russia. His role there is yet to be specified.

  • Maxim Ksenzov's departure from Roskomnadzor was announced in December 2015. He worked at the media and communications regulatory body for three years. Some of his duties included the blocking of websites containing forbidden information.
