Thanks to Periscope, Irkutsk police catch teens who threw a TV set out a window

Police in Irkutsk apprehended several local youths earlier today for throwing a television set out a fourth-story window, after the teenagers broadcast the act on Periscope. According to the website Sib.fm, a man in Krasnodar was watching the suspects' Periscope feed, and immediately informed the Irkutsk police, after he witnessed them throw a TV out their window.

Sib.fm reports that two teenagers and one young adult—all inxoticated—promised viewers on Periscope that they would throw a television set out their window, if they “got enough likes” for their videoblog. Irkutsk law enforcement officers say the three broadcast other crimes, as well, such as swearing at the police.

The parents of the two minors face responsibility for their sons' acts, while the 18-year-old suspect faces a 3,000-ruble ($44) fine and possible criminal charges for insulting public officials.
