Yota to allow roaming use of messaging apps free of charge
The mobile operator Yota is expected to launch a service that would allow its clients to use messaging apps in roaming mode, even with a balance of zero on their accounts, said a company press release on Monday.
This development would allow users to communicate via applications such as WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram, Facebook Messеnger, and iMessage, regardless of whether they have any money remaining on their mobile accounts.
The company stated that the transmission of files, including photographs, would be possible only if a user has a mobile plan that ordinarily grants them access to the Internet.
- According to Yota, the most common messaging apps among its users are WhatsApp (used by 45 percent of its clients), Viber (28 percent), Telegram (8 percent), and Facebook Messenger (4 percent).
- The Yota roaming option is active in 229 different countries.
