Moscow court rejects prison officials' plea to cancel opposition leader's parole and lock him up, instead

A Moscow municipal court has rejected a plea from Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service to give oppositionist leader Alexey Navalny jail time, as opposed to the suspended sentence that he is currently serving, announced Navalny's political ally Leonid Volkov on Twitter. The solicitation was submitted on the basis that on several occasions in 2015 when Navalny did not check in with his parole officer on specified days, despite having no explanation for missing the appointments.
