Moscow activist Darya Soboleva’s flat searched by law enforcement

Law enforcement officers conducted a search in the flat of the employee of the the Moscow project “Otkrytoe prostranstvo” (“Open space”) Darya Soboleva, reports OVD-Info, Russian human rights group that monitors political arrests.

The investigation is treating this as a criminal case regarding an unknown person committing vandalism. According to OVD-Info, the search warrant states that there were items with anti-war slogans present at the exhibition run by “Otkrytoe prostranstvo”.

No personal items of Soboleva’s were confiscated during the search. According to SOTA, the procedural status of the activist is unknown at the moment. The investigation was looking for political paintings, Ukrainian flags, and documents, according to the source of the news outlet.

Previously, on 14 June, Soboleva was at the exhibition of political prisoners’ works, which was held at the Moscow office of “Otkrytoe prostranstvo”. The exhibition was disrupted by members of the pro-government group SERB. Police agents confiscated all paintings, posters, and personal guarantees from the project’s Moscow office. They also ripped off all the stickers. After that, Soboleva together with a lawyer Irina Putilova were taken to a police station to be interviewed, they were later released.
