Russian Oppositional Arts Review website blocked in Russia

Russia’s censorship agency Roskomnadzor has blocked the website of Russian Oppositional Arts Review (ROAR), an online magazine that hosts creations by Russians opposing the war in Ukraine, its founder Linor Goralik stated on Facebook.

Access to the website is blocked in accordance with the decision of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office dated 15 July.

According to Roskomnadzor, the ROAR website contains “false information of public importance”, as well as reports of “attacks on civilian infrastructure objects, numerous victims among Ukraine’s civilian population and the Russian Armed Forces, general mobilisation and so on.”

ROAR’s Internet provider told Goralik that it did not plan to adhere to Roskomnadzor’s ruling.

Since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Roskomnadzor has blocked numerous websites of independent Russian and foreign media, as well as websites containing allegedly false reports on the war.

The censorship agency blocked access to Dozhd TV channel’s website, as well as the websites of Novaya Gazeta. Europe, Holod, Echo of Moscow radio station and other media outlets.
