Latvian Embassy in Russia suspends acceptance of visa applications by Russian citizens

The Latvian Embassy in Russia has indefinitely suspended accepting visa applications by Russian citizens, the embassy Twitter informs.

An exception will be made only for citizens attending a funeral of a close relative.

Starting 1 August, Latvia has suspended the agreement on economic cooperation with Russia. Besides, the country suspended the agreement between Latvia and Russia on establishing an intergovernmental commission on economic, humanitarian, research and cultural cooperation.

The 2010 agreement between Latvia and Russia on simplifying the travel of residents of both countries’ border areas has also been suspended.

Earlier, Estonia announced that it would no longer issue residence permits or visas for studying to Russian citizens.
