Wives of Russian draftees say their husbands were sent to Ukraine war with no prior training

The wives of draftees from the towns of Serov and Polevskoy in Russia’s Yekaterinburg region said that their husbands had been sent to the war in Ukraine without the necessary training, FederalPress news outlet reports. The men were sent to Ukraine within the 55th motor rifle brigade.

The office of the regional human rights commissioner stated that it had already received their address and launched an inspection.

The wives stated that their husbands had been deprived of food and water on the front line. They added that the draftees do not have enough weapons to counter artillery attacks.

“They had no training. In the two weeks that they spent at camp, they had shooting exercises twice, only when TV crews were present. Once the TV crews left, it all stopped,” one of the women said.

Kristina Vokhmyakova, a resident of Polevskoy, said that the draftees had been sent to the Luhansk “people’s republic” for training. However, they came under artillery and mortar fire instead.
