US slaps more sanctions on dozens of individuals and businesses linked to Russia

The US has introduced a new round of sanctions against people and legal entities with ties to Russia, the US Treasury said in a statement.

In particular, sanctions were imposed against Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, ex-Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh, the daughter and father of a State Duma lawmaker Varvara and Vladimir Skocha, who were also blacklisted by the UK.

Moreover, sanctions will now be applied to oligarch Alisher Usmanov’s USM company that was earlier targeted by London, as well as the International Investment Bank headquartered in Budapest, the Young Army Cadets National Movement, Metalloinvest, Megafon and dozens of other Russian companies.

At the same time, a separate licence was issued to not apply the sanctions to the Kommersant newspaper.

Earlier, Canada and the UK expanded their sanction list to add more Russian individuals and companies.
