Kyiv and Warsaw to resume Ukrainian grain transit through Poland
Kyiv and Warsaw have reached an agreement to restore Ukrainian grain transits through Poland starting on 22 April, Ukrainian Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported.
The decision was made during talks in Warsaw.
“We treat issues that our Polish colleagues have with the same attention that Poland pays to our problems. Therefore, we must quickly and constructively react to this crisis situation,” she noted.
“Following the talks, it was decided that the Ukrainian agricultural produce transits through Poland will be unblocked in the night from Thursday, 21 April, to Friday, 22 April, of the current year,” the minister announced.
According to her, Kyiv is now expecting official communications from Warsaw regarding technical aspects of the Ukrainian produce transit through Poland’s territory.
On Monday, Slovakia announced that it would halt Ukrainian grain imports, becoming the third EU member to do so after Poland and Hungary. On Sunday, the European Commission slammed these decisions as unacceptable.
