Amendments allowing to deport people from occupied territories introduced to Russian parliament
Amendments allowing “forced and controlled” deportation of people from the occupied territories of Ukraine have been introduced to the Russian State Duma, MP Andrey Klishas reports.
The bill will allow security forces to detain people for 30 days for violating “prohibitions and restrictions established by decrees of the Russian President” in territories under martial law, introduced in the occupied Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.
Among other things, the bill clarifies that referendums and elections are not to be held in martial law territories, unless a decision to arrange those is made following consultations with the Russian Defence Ministry and the FSB. In addition, it is allowed to hold referendums both throughout the territory and in a separate part of it.
As follows from the Duma database, these amendments were made to the bill #168783-8. The day before, they were approved by one of the Committees and sent to the second reading, which is scheduled for 17 May.
