Ukraine’s Defence Ministry confirms liberating Piatykhatky village in Zaporizhzhia region

Ukraine’s Armed Forces have liberated the Russia-occupied village of Piatykhatky located in the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, Deputy Defence Minister of Ukraine Hanna Maliar reports.

According to her, eight settlements have been liberated in the two weeks of the counteroffensive in the Berdyansk and Melitopol directions: Novodarivka, Levadne, Storozheve, Makarivka, Blahodatne, Lobkove, Neskuchne, and Piatykhatky.

“In total, the units advanced up to 7 km into the depth of the enemy [territory] in the Tavrichesky direction. The area liberated in the south makes up 113 square kilometres,” the deputy minister said.

Yesterday, 18 June, Russian “war correspondents” and the head of the Russia-installed occupation administration of the Zaporizhzhia region Vladimir Rogov reported the loss of control over Piatykhatky.

“The wave-like offensives of the enemy have yielded results despite their colossal losses. Our artillery is now targeting the enemy who is frantically trying to gain ground in Piatykhatky,” Rogov wrote.

In turn, the Russian Defence Ministry said that the Ukrainian attempt to assault Piatykhatky was repelled.

The US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) previously reported that the Ukrainian army had made gains south of the Velyka Novosilka settlement and liberated, in particular, the villages of Makarivka, Neskuchne, Blahodatne, Storozheve, and Novodarivka.
