Seven dead amid shelling in Kherson region

Shelling of Ukraine’s Kherson region on Sunday morning has killed seven people, Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian presidential office, reported.

Two people were killed and one person was wounded in the village of Stanislav after Russian forces shelled the settlement using multiple launch rocket systems, Yermak wrote. “Five private residential houses were destroyed or received damage,” he added.

Ihor Klymenko, Ukraine’s Interior Minister, reported that 12 hits were recorded in Stanislav.

Four people — three adults and a newborn baby — were killed in the village of Shiroka Balka.

“In Shiroka Balka, enemy artillery killed a local man, his wife, and their daughter, who was only 23 days old. Their 12-year-old son was hospitalised in critical condition,” Klymenko wrote. Klymenko later added that the boy had died in hospital, bringing the death toll to seven.

The regional prosecutor’s office reported that the shelling occurred at 10 AM on Sunday.

Russia has not yet commented on the incident.
