Small arms fire kills Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, says Defense Ministry
A group of Russian servicemen were killed on September 20, when their vehicle came under fire in Nagorno-Karabakh, reports the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to a statement quoted by state media, the servicemen came under small arms fire while returning from the peacekeeping contingent’s observation post near the village of Janyatag (Chankatagh).
The Defense Ministry did not assign responsibility for the attack, nor did it specify the exact number of casualties or personnel in the vehicle.
“Representatives of Russian and Azerbaijani investigative agencies are working at the scene to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the Defense Ministry noted.
